Team Leftee: Meet Bret Gray

We are excited to announce the addition of Bret Gray to the Leftee Golf team. Gray, a native of San Antonio, Texas, currently competes for Sam Houston State University, a D1 member of the Western Athletic Conference.

Bret is in the midst of a stellar sophomore season, currently ranked 124th among all NCAA Men’s Division 1 players according to Golfstat. He currently boasts a 71.19 scoring average and hoisted the individual trophy at the 2023 Bayou City Classic. Gray was recently named the WAC Men’s Golfer of the Week after helping lead the team to a championship at the Huntsville Toyota Bearkat Invitational. He has three Top 7 finishes in his last four collegiate starts.

This all comes on the heels of a breakout freshman season where the lefty posted a 73.16 scoring average over 10 events while recording six Top 10 finishes, including winning the All-American Intercollegiate. Gray placed third in the WAC Men’s Golf Championship and was recognized with All-WAC First Team Honors in 2022.

As a junior player, Gray was ranked 11th in the state of Texas, with a first-place finish at the 2021 Greater San Antonio Junior and a third place finish at the 2021 Greater San Antonio Men’s Championships. During his prep career, he won the 2021 High School 27-6A district championship by 9 shots along with a handful of other wins and runner-up finishes.

“Bret has a storied amateur career that’s carrying over to collegiate play and showing no signs of slowing down” says Dan Drullinger, co-founder of Leftee Golf. “He’s a natural fit for Leftee Golf, and we look forward to watching this bright career unfold.”
